The Year of the Start of
it All in review
Greetings good friends! I
suppose it's time for a reflection of this past year as I plan for
the next. So in brief: began working night shift as new graduate RN
at Washington Hospital; hiked the Na' Pali Coast trail in Kauai with
Tim Barley and friends (kicked my butt, literally one of the most
painful experiences of my life, but with so much building of
perseverance!); switched to working day shift; travelled to Hungary
for Angol Tábor (English Camp) for the fourth time where I
celebrated my 30th birthday; bought a new pair of
Rainbows; completed my first year working as an RN; travelled to Ohio
to hang out with my American friends, all of whom I met over the
years in Hungary; helped build a house in Tijuana, México with Baja
Builders and experienced a glorious 5 hour border crossing at 4 in
the morning; camped overnight in Yosemite with Davin where a raccoon
swiped our cup o noodles and I foolishly tossed up a handstand on a
towering rock face, feet away from assured destruction; went
snowboarding for the first time with Kyle and Nate at Boreal which
included lots of falls, breathtaking views and quick a convo in
Hungarian; paid off my student loans, and ended it all with my first
double shift at work.
I also did a lot of
reflecting on my life and decided I needed to spend more time in
community, investing in friendships and to spend less time on myself.
It really was the Year of the Start of it All, which I feel was a
great introduction to my years in the 30's. I'm still single, being a
young buck that I am, but I have learned a great deal regarding all
of that. I decided to finally get involved with the high school
ministry at Valley Bible Church; and the more time I spend in that,
the more I am blessed.
As I look to what's ahead of
me this year I keep in mind my life motto, Life to the Full. I see
the many areas of wasted time, shortfalls, and utter mistakes of 2012
and I hope to learn from them, always striving to become more
refined. I feel my weaknesses were brought to the surface this year
as clear as day for me to see, and from this I have set out grow from
them. I have a lot of ideas, thoughts, plans for this year.
Resolutions I would call them not, but more so little dreams I will
try to make reality. Whether career plans, travel dreams, character
refinement, personal growth, I have a lot to sort through for this
year. A lot of it seems jumbled up in my head, but some of if more
clear.
So as I search for a theme
for this year and work through where I am headed, I will keep my
focus on the God who is over it all. I hope to share some of my
adventures with you, my friends, and grow in this life, living it the
fullest. Thanks for reading.
